Ransom-Ware meets ClickAddicts

Recently I have had the fortune of coming across this new program called Cryptolocker. It is a rather nasty form of Ransom-Ware that embeds itself in the usual method, emails, web-links, and ad-blocks on websites.

Now for those of you who do not know what Ransom-Ware is, it is a virus, or worm, that when installed, wreaks havoc in one form or another on your computer, often doing irreversible harm, and then holds your files and information for ransom. Once it has done its damage it then notifies you that in order to have everything return back to normal, you must pay x amount of dollars. This amount can be anywhere from $200-$1000.

Click Click Next Philosophy

Due to recent dealings with local people bringing their computers over for me to disinfect and clean their computer I am prompted to write this article. Most people in this generation have been brought up with a "click click next" mindset when installing programs. We do it every day right? One installer is just the same as the next right?

Linux Web Server

So I came up with the idea I wanted to install a Web File Sharing server. Read a lot of articles, some referenced FTP servers, some referenced Web Servers, but I only found one piece of software that did exactly what I wanted it to do. I wanted a web base, customizable front end, file sharing server that didn't require anybody I wanted to share files with learn anything about FTP, or install an FTP client.Took me a file to find one, and it came in a nice, self-installing package that ran a listening service instead of running MySQL, PHP, Apache and all the other fun stuff a normal web server requires.

Hidden Admin Account in Windows Vista/7

Ok, so with the release of Windows Vista there has been some issues with the account you set up for yourself as Computer Administrator, not being a true administrator account. Certain things will not run, one of which being Outlook BCM. In order to bypass all these issues you are having you will have to login as the Administrator (the actual Administrator account, not the psuedo-admin account yours should be). Below is the text to activate the hidden administrator account so that you can login and do whatever you need.
